About Trail & Thunder

Built by riders, for riders

Trail & Thunder is a family-friendly Midwest community for Jeep, ATV, and Harley enthusiasts. We're not a club with dues and bylaws — we're the people who show up, make room, and ride together.

Our mission

More miles, more people, more memories

We exist to connect Midwest riders across disciplines — whether you're crawling rock ledges in a built Jeep, blasting open trails on an ATV, or logging miles on a Harley. Every ride type is welcome. Every skill level belongs.

1

Community first

We look out for each other on and off the trail. If someone's stuck, we stop. If someone's new, we welcome them.

2

Family friendly

Kids, partners, and first-timers are always welcome. We build events and rides that work for the whole crew, not just the hardcore.

3

Respect the land

Stay on marked trails, pack out what you pack in, and leave every spot better than you found it. We ride here because it's beautiful — let's keep it that way.

4

Safety is non-negotiable

Helmets, recovery gear, ride buddies, and a plan. We have fun, but we come home.

Ride safe

Safety guidelines

Whether it's your first trail day or your hundredth, these principles keep everyone rolling.

Gear up every time

Helmets are required for ATV and UTV riders at all club events. Jeep and motorcycle riders should wear appropriate protective gear for the terrain and conditions.

Never ride alone

Always ride with at least one other person. On remote trails, go in groups of three or more. File a rough plan with someone who isn't riding.

Carry recovery gear

Tow straps, a basic tool kit, first aid supplies, water, and a charged phone or radio. Know how to use what you carry.

Check conditions first

Trail conditions change fast in the Midwest. Check weather, water levels, and trail status before you leave. Turn back if conditions deteriorate.

Stay in communication

Share your route and expected return time. On group rides, use a channel plan. Cell service is unreliable on backcountry trails.

Who rides with us

Everyone's welcome here

Families

Parents and kids who want to explore together. We plan family-friendly events with easy terrain, campfire time, and space for little ones to get muddy safely.

Clubs & crews

Organized clubs are welcome to join our events or co-host rides. We love connecting established groups with new faces and new trails.

Weekend adventurers

You work hard all week and live for Saturday. You don't need a built rig or a race history — just a sense of adventure and a willingness to explore.

New riders

Just got your first machine or your first Harley? Perfect. We have experienced riders who love helping newcomers find their footing and their confidence.
